Tour de France

Contrary to Joel Stein’s belief, in his commentary in todays Star-Tribune, that this year’s race was, “the lamest Tour de France ever.”  Mrs. Wingnut and I thought that this actually was the most interesting of the three that we had watched.  There was no clear leader until the last couple of stages, because it kept changing around in the leaders group, the route seemed to be more interesting than before, and we liked the Versus commentary team for the most part.

Phil Liggett seems to be getting a little dodgy, he can’t seem to identify the riders every time, but Bob Roll adds his little manic touches and all is well.

The weather seemed much more stable during the race this year, but there were still plenty of exciting accidents and upsets.

Don’t listen to Stein; the crackdown on doping is a good thing.
