Mixed nut bars

Crust Ingredients

  • 1½ cups all purpose flour
  • ½ cup butter
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Filling Ingredients

  • 6 oounces butterscotch chips
  • ½ cup white Karo syrup
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 Tablespoon water

Topping Ingredients

  • 12 ounce can mixed nuts, or combination of cashews, almonds, and macadamia nuts

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F
  2. Prepare crust by cutting butter into flour, sugar, and salt.  Blend well.
  3. Spread crust in greased 9 x 13 inch pan.  Bake 10 minutes, just until it starts to brown.
  4. When crust comes out of the oven, combine the filling ingredients, and melt over low heat, stirring until combined.  Remove from heat.
  5. Spread the filling over the baked crust, and sprinkle with the mixed nuts topping
  6. Bake all three layers for 10 more minutes
