How’s your fuel economy?

I’ve always been concerned with the fuel economy of the automobiles that I purchase, because I remember sitting in those damn lines in the 1970’s during the oil embargo.  So the very first car I purchased was a Honda Civic in 1985, followed by a VW Passat in 1995, and currently a 2006 VW Jetta Turbo Diesel; and my wife recently purchased a Prius.  So why is it that we as a nation cannot figure out that we can’t keep living addicted to monster cars that get crappy mileage?

The rest of the world seems to be doing better than we do, and we should be setting a better example.

Not that I don’t want to conserve fuel, but statistics like this are a complete misrepresentation of fuel consumption. You can’t compare civilized countries to the US, nor can you compare countries with a population less than or equal to an individual state in the US. Do you want to be Iran or Mexico and ride an ass to work?
