Good songwriter advice

There’s a lot of abuse of the singer/songwriter thing.  I think there should be a waiting period for acoustic guitars, much like when you want to buy a handgun.  A background check, just to be sure your not gonna like, open your journal on some street corner and start subjecting innocent passer-bys to your personal problems.  So I think a song has to definitely do something, it can’t just be cathartic.
