Can exercise make up for sitting most of the day?
According to an article in the Star-Tribune on 8-May-2009, no amount of exercise, if you remain sedentary for much of the day will decrease your mortality risk.
“This is an important observation because it suggests that high amounts of sitting cannot be compensated for with occasional leisure time physical activity even if the amount exceeds the current minimum … recommendations.”
Guess that old saying, “Whenever I feel like exercising, I just lay down until it goes away,” really is OK.
