When I was a kid, I lived in Phoenix and these kinds of dust storms were a regular summer occurrence. The used to be called dust storms, but now they have a fancy middle eastern name, “Haboob.” They were always a drag because the dust got everywhere; all the pools were filled with muck for days. We would stand in the backyard and see this kind of thing coming, and run into the house to close the windows on the back porch so it didn’t fill up with dirt.
