This horrible wintery spring is driving me crazy, because I haven’t been able to do as much riding as I want; and the Iron Crotch is only a week away. So, yesterday, I went for a bike ride, even though it was in the low 50s. I took the Saint Paul Classic route backwards. Most of the ride was snow and ice free. Except on Shepard Road over State Highway 5 where I did a face plant into a snow bank. My front tire got caught in a joint in the sidewalk where the sidewalk gets kind of narrow, and when I pulled free, I lost control and went shooting into the snow pile at the edge of the street, face first with my bike up over my back. I even lost my right glove in the process some how, but I found it when I got back on my feet. Nothing broken; both legs banged up above the knees, some pain in my left shoulder where my arm must have popped out of the shoulder and back again. I found when I took my jacket off at home, that my left arm was covered in blood. I had banged my left elbow pretty badly and it bled on and off most of the afternoon and evening. The route I took is here.
